Branching off a new thread after a recent mention of the area in another thread. The West Bend is generally defined as the area bound by Bloor Street W at its south, the West Toronto rail line to the east, Dundas Street W to the north, and Keele to the west:

2480 Dundas St W is listed for sale at $8.3 million. It's a former warehouse building a bit north of the Shoppers and Freshco plaza, that currently features residential loft units inside:

Prime Location. Rare Opportunity. This unique property features 14 updated hard loft studios plus other income streams, offering excellent upside potential and opportunities for future development or condo conversion in one of the prime blocks of West Toronto. Full of character with exposed brick, large wood beams, and 12-foot ceilings, most units include in-suite laundry, and all have a separate hydro meter and hot water tanks. The building also features a new high-efficiency furnace. Ideally situated near Bloor & Dundas, Union Pearson Express, Dundas West Subway, and Bloor GO Station, this high-demand location has excellent tenants and is easy to manage. Request the full listing package for more details. (41029975)

It looks nicer inside than I had imagined. I always figured it was another 888 Dupont, but now I’m not so sure ;)

Is the Chairtex building next door still abandoned? I never look too closely anymore while cycling or driving by.

Shocked the listing doesn't mention the orphaned floating window

I don't agree with the boundaries. The Junction's main retail drag continues east past Keele. The natural end of the Junction is at Dundas and Dupont.

It's hard to tell but that building unfortunately appears vacant as the front door is still boarded up.

A photo of that building in 1935 before an additional floor was added, from this Vintage Toronto Facebook group:

Dearborn Chemical has an interesting history as a maker of chemicals to address mineral deposits in boilers and industrial equipment. I had no idea that it used to use the building!

I can't believe that it's still vacant given its prominent location and the city's real estate boom. I remember first noticing it as a teen in the 2000s looking for abandoned buildings to explore and photograph. There was no way in that didn't involve breaking anything, though, so I never photographed it.

I'd love to know the back story on why it has sat vacant for so many years.
