Toronto One Front | 170.86m | 49s | Larco | a—A

These are mostly nonsense.
The hilarious part is these articles are mostly created on AI platforms to dump out as click-bait for the doom-scrollers and terminally online to consume for the purpose to generate revenue from adds on trashy social media platforms by people who have no care or concern what they are writing is true or not, only that they meet their article quota.

Media and tech literacy is at multi-generational lows.

If you want some real fun, go back through the archives of this site and you can find people talking about articles that "prove" by 2015 there would be no oil left on the Earth, and all vehicles would have to be electrified. Surprise, we actually seem to be drifting away from electrification now when not even 20% of the way there.

Never would be better.

Or the optimal solution: Larco goes bust and insolvent so we never have to worry about their stupidity ever again.

You really have to cut back on these namby-pamby don't take a side 'takes' here on UT.

We would all much prefer you express a clear opinion! :p

^...lots of four letter words may help. <3

SUMMARY
This report recommends that City Council approve the alterations proposed for the heritage property located at 1 Front Street West under Section 42 of the Ontario Heritage Act at the Dominion Public Building, in connection with a proposed redevelopment of the subject property and that Council grant authority to amend the existing Heritage Easement Agreement for the subject property. The property at 1 Front Street West is designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act and is also contained within the Union Station Heritage Conservation District Plan. The Dominion Public Building at 1 Front Street West is identified as a "contributing building" within the Plan. A related Zoning By-law amendment application proposes amendments to the scheme that was approved in 2020 to permit changes to the permitted uses. The current Heritage Permit application is largely the same as the scheme that was approved in 2020. The only difference is that now modifications are being proposed to14 of the 18 existing openings on the Front Street façade. The 7 central windows on each wing flanking the central entrance block would be lowered to allow access to the new retail units on the first floor. The modifications will enhance pedestrian access and permeability between the public realm and interior of the property while retaining some original windows, the building’s heavy stone base and its symmetrical form. All other aspects of the conservation strategy that was approved in 2020 are still proposed including restoration of the canopy that once ran the length of the south façade of the building

Interesting. I don't think it really bothers me either. It's a bit of a block killer, albeit a pretty one. This may provide a bit of life.

Unreleated, but I do remember there was once a rumour that this building would be Toronto's first Nordstrom store. Imagine if that had come about!

^...this one least has interesting shapes, despite one of towers having that annoying kink. Where as 20 Front proposal doesn't really add to anything of value.

At the end of the day though, both these are rather awkward distractions...I wish the respective developers just drop before any real damage is done, IMO.
