Mike Filey confirmed it was 4081 that was staying, and 4089 and 4124 to be retained as possible work cars, in an article for the Toronto Sun around the time the CLRVs retired. I found out from talking to folk at HCRR just last December that it was 4081 that they were going to scrap, and the consensus opinion seemed to be that some fool made a mistake in a planning document and the wrong car is going to be scrapped as a result.
 
Has anyone seen this before elsewhere in TTC network that I saw on Eglinton Ave E on April 15??

It wasn't there in October and never saw anyone parking there, then I only in the area 1-6 months between trips to there.

I cannot speak for the most of Crosstown underground stations, but there been none for the Yonge Station area since day one nor my last visit in October until yesterday. 2 other stations I visited every 4-6 weeks in the west end never had these signs. The east end saw none of these signs. Mount Denise station area had no signs as well. Odd there is a sign there now considering its a few blocks away from an entrance.

Was on 4606 today and the first time I been on one of the new cars since they enter service. I don't know if this is the same on rest of the new cars, but there is no stamp machine for the old tickets and I expect TTC did not order more for the new cars since the end of the line for the tickets was to be in 2024.

Had a couple asked me where you stamp the ticket on the car and pointed to the area where they are on the existing fleet. They said there was no stamper and I took a look before replying. Sure enough, there is no stamper and said you will have to use the stamper on the 510 platform to do it and take your chance with the enforcers at Spadina.

Has anyone seen these stampers on any of the new cars???

How does one stamp these soon to be retire tickets on the new cars where there are no on street stamp machine and not have issues with enforcers since this is a TTC issue??

When riders turn 65 year old some years ago, riders try cashing in their tokens at the TTC Yonge office and were told by TTC staff that there was no refunds and the tokens would be converted to senor tickets. The day I took someone to cash in their tokens, this what they were told and it was stated to other riders doing the same thing. None of those riders were happy about it. Two riders stood out over this mess as they walked out with 300-500 tickets and saying they will never used them all before they were to be retired at a great lost to them. My party has a few tickets left and they will not using them up by June 1 since they live out of town in the first place.

Saw this once somewhere recently downtown too but I can't quite remember where, however the stop was by a McDonalds and it had become notorious for food delivery drivers to pull up and stop there because "I'll only be a minute" but there would always be more arriving immediately after one left.

More up on my site

Was driving by the Fleet-Bathurst Intersection a few weeks ago and noticed trackwork taking place and could get any shots due traffic ness on both the Gardiner and the Lake Shore.. If it wasn't for the traffic, I would found a place to park to get some shots. It took me 15 minutes to go from Bathurst to Jamison.

The westbound lane off Bathurst is gone for a block now and wide to support a platform on Fleet. To bad they did not raise the sidewalk where the platform is to go in like they did on Roncesvalles for level boarding

A small area on the southside of the Lake Shore still needs tracks install with a 3 man crew doing splicing before concrete can be pour, otherwise, all trackwork is done.

The new overhead is installed, but missing the new tension system to the new pulleys on a number of the poles I saw for the short distance I was on Fleet. Both overhead lines are currently straight with no zig zag.

Anyone know what became of the ex-Kansas City PCC that was owned by La Pentola Restaurant at 1671 Eglinton East? According to the 2021 Canadian Trackside Guide it was in storage at the time of the guide's preparation. Don't have any more up to date information, other than the fact that a restaurant by that name does not appear to exist on Google Maps, nor can I see anything on Streetview.

We all want them built ASAP but the 'fair price' idea really depends on having a fair and open bidding process. Of course, it would be good to build them in Ontario (or Canada) but the price IS important too. Sole source contracts are often FAR more expensive then competitive ones,

That is what I was eluding to.

I don't care if they are built in Germany or Thunder Bay. What do I care about is if they are reliable and if they are a fair price for the work.
 
UrbanToronto brings many things to my attention that I would never have noticed had I not been a regular poster on these forums.

Last night, on my drive home from work I decided to hit up the Apache burger since I knew it would be the only place open. I have the next couple days off, so I chose to take the "slow" way back home and drive through Toronto instead of taking the highways. Driving down Weston Rd and west on Dundas St., I was surprised at how many TTC buses I saw still running just before midnight. I was even more shocked to see people waiting at bus stops at such late hours.

For all the flack the TTC gets, I think it's quite impressive that they manage to run buses at such late hours of the night. Do other major N.A. cities run buses this late into the night?

Yes, many cities have night bus service, although Toronto has arguably one of the best night bus networks in North America.
