Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Just pay attention to the trial running section. For the REM it went smoothly. For the confed line (which features a number of the same characters as the crosstown) they decided to gloss over "minor" issues during the running, and we all know how that turned out. For the trillium line they went total opposite, and kept it running forever until there wasn't the slightest hiccup. The worst case scenarios which are unlikely are like Edmonton, with the Metro Lines signalling proving unreliable and the Valley line revealing infrastructure issues

The issue is that you're equating the equipment, rather than the operator.

The TTC has lots and lots and lots of experience with opening up new additions to their network. They have a set plan in place that they've used since the initial Yonge Subway segment, and it's worked quite well then and since.

Don't assume that just because it's an LRT that it will end up like Ottawa. Anything but.

Some neat maps from within Chaplin Station were posted on Reddit.

Based on a zoom in on the fuzzy text, I think Science Centre Station has been renamed Don Valley.

If this is a new design, it is quite inconsistent with the Metrolinx Wayfinding Standards. Metrolinx does not use the train, subway, LRT symbols on the top right.

I assume this was done by Entro as the project is still u/c and wayfinding is still their domain.

Just for clarity, I'm talking about the part right before handover and TTC takes full control. That's where all these P3s in other cities have had last minute delays

The TTC itself has a really good track record. However this is the first of many projects where the TTC is no longer in the driver's seat, so the past might not apply.

I'm actually hopeful that it will open in August, I'm just saying watch the trial runs closely to know if that timeframe will actually happen

June 22nd, actually, is the first day that it could open. The TTC runs their simulated service for 2 board periods.
Damn shame that BlogTO doesn't verify what they read here before they announce it to the world! :)

If it was for May signups, then there'd be no guarantee that they'd change the plan 5 times before signups begin. How many weeks in advance do they do start signups? Presumably sometime in April.

Some stations have the interior lights turned off. This could be a sign indicating everything is complete at select ones.

No one really knows how or wants to deal with the hot potato. That's my guess.
It certainly came up during the debate. Perhaps it's more that it's a relatively minor issue in the greater scheme of things. Or that three different Premiers (and four different mayors) have their fingers in this one.

^ Who is Entro?
Entro is the wayfinding firm Crosslinx hired to do signage on the Crosstown. They made their own standards that are not in line with the standards Metrolinx later made in house. Finch West uses the Metrolinx standard, which is far better in my opinion. The Entro stuff on Crosstown is kinda crap.
