****

Note that there will be enhanced intervention to reach out to the homeless........but this will be funded from the Shelter and Support budget, not the TTC:

As expected, no sign of City funding for their supposed HIGH PRIORITY of building the QUEENS QUAY EAST LRT! Sigh!

LOL as if that is the problem.
They all know about the supports already. Seriously, what are they going to tell them to do?
"Hi, did you know there are shelters where you could go and be turned away because they are already full?"
How about removing their encampments on the streetcars for morning rush hour taking up five seats?

This may well be paired with 'enforcement action'.........but I don't expect any Mayor to say that publicly. File under TBD.

Not much for "real" transit signal priority. But then that's the Transportation Services, where the priority for them is the single-occupant automobile, not public transit. It is Transportation Services that says that the 3 or 4 single-occupant motor vehicles trying to turn left at streetcar/light rail right-of-ways go ahead of the 200+ onboard a streetcar or up to 600+ onboard a light rail train.

So the 200 people inside a streetcar along a right-of-way have to wait as Doug Ford in his SUV makes his left turn. Can't make service better for public transit if there are other priorities that get in the way.

What would the Mayor and Chair be saying about Line 2? Construction is being done by Metrolinx.

Besides, if it was about Line 2, it wouldn't be at Wilson.
I'm sure you knew what I meant, and it's not the SSE. Besides, the thing in question is for line 1 as well, so why wouldn't it be at Wilson? Not to mention the first 2 prototypes are supposed to be delivered to Wilson despite being intended for line 2, so they'd already become handmedowns by the time they reach line 2 (or so some would say) 😆

I'm not sure what what you meant. Or what you mean by the "thing" in question was. You said Line 2. The other guy said the 5 to 10 year policy.

It was neither. Predictably it was the budget announcement. So they could do that just about anywhere! Perhaps from that bus shelter on Danforth where a homeless guy has been living for (months?).

Steve has his usual in-depth and thoughtful analysis of the budget proposals

Couple tidbits to note:

5 min or better 7am-7pm on Line1&2.

TTC budget estimates a 10th bus garage to cost $485m!!!

TTC budget estimates new Transit Control Centre to cost $482m!!!

McCowan Yard decision in 2025
Kipling Yard to be used for buses in place of a 10th garage till up to 2038

I wonder what 7 more route supervisors will do when the entire route is fill with construction/traffic/accidents. They still have to make sure the operators get their break on time. They can't just magically teleport a bus. So pointless.

To be fair looking at the 320 data he collected they can't even keep a route on time without those factors

Someone sent me this link that is in Portuguese and the display is very weak. Considering how poor TTC funds are let alone other systems, is this a good thing, but most likely not as there is a need for more manpower and open to abused

Heavens, I took the 506 from Sherbourne to Spadina past noon today to pickup a suit at Tom's Place in Kensington Market. I figured it's cheaper than driving and a nice day for a walk to the stop. But I was not prepared for the cuckoos nest that made up my fellow passengers. It's in part on me for sitting at the very back of a soon to be busy empty streetcar. I would estimate that maybe 4/10 tapped on, and of those 6/10 who did not, most were muttering at themselves, flaying about or otherwise mentally or chemically troubled. I just MMOB, headphones on listening to the RevZilla podcast on landsplitting (should be a thing in ON, imo), but then one guy recognized another from the social and the latter starting shouting that the other go away, whilst the first starting singing toward the second chap. What a circus, but I never felt threatened, and saw it more like I was on safari in an asylum - I could almost hear Sir David Attenborough narrating upon the thrashing, manic behaviour. I suppose all the normies were in class or at work, so this is what's left, just the nutters and a guy buying a suit.
