I doubt that in this case; she also said she thought it would take at least a year to change the emphasis.

They have to honour any existing contractual orders; then hire additional buyers for books, then they can start repurposing space, though they'll have to order the shelving etc etc.

In this case, I would imaging they actually would be interested to see what moves; a few of non-book offerings might survive.

Could be wrong; but I suspect they're just waiting for Front St. Streetscape to finish and they'll open with a couple of other retails (see Prince St. Pizza) maybe end of next week or such.

Edit to add: Indigo normally lists openings in its 'events' section on its website. They currently have events listed through Nov 19th, no sign of an opening here. I would be surprised if they went that late, they're probably just holding back the info.

I don’t think they’ll make major changes to this particular store. As I said it was fully stocked and ready to open - everything was in place. I even saw a few staff inside, probably being trained. The only odd thing was the sign by the entrance saying opening date TBD had not been updated.
 
They are still working on elements of the atrium around the entrance.

Btw the scaffolding is down around one of the bridges and it looks so much more open. Taken 20 October.

According to an article in Today's Star; the opening of Indigo at The Well is postponed.

It still seems unlikely that they will reno the newly built space in a material way; but maybe a couple of the non-book sections of inventory are out; and may need minor changes to shelving or such to allow for additional books. That's just speculation on my part.

It seems quite bizarre to me not to open it as it is now (to my eyes) ready. If they need to change stock 'mix' that can be done overnight. The rent must be huge so to keep it stocked and closed is VERY odd!

I doubt it will happen but I was there the other day and thought exactly the same thing - it was a wind-tunnel and quite dreary and chilly on what was not a cold day. It will be interesting to see how people respond to what is (almost) an outdoor mall like Shops at Don Mills.

I could see some changes to reduce wind-tunnel effects. Wind breaks, etc. Full enclosure would be difficult as there is no HVAC system provided for.
