SmartCentres Alliston is a 36-acre property located along Highway 89 and County Road 10 in Alliston, New Tecumseth. In 2019, the Town completed its Official Plan review and expanded the land use permissions of the site to include residential uses.
In February 2020, SmartCentres submitted a Zoning By-Law Amendment to the Town of New Tecumseth for additional land uses, including hotel and self-storage, to facilitate a long-term masterplan. This plan includes commercial uses along Highway 89 and approximately 350 residential units, to enhance the current shopping centre on the property. In May 2020, SmartCentres submitted its Site Plan Application for the first phase of this redevelopment. The application details a 3-storey, 42-unit, purpose-built rental apartment, to be built under the SmartLiving residential brand. This smaller scale building is demonstrative of SmartCentres' commitment to adapting its residential expansion plans to support and enhance communities of all sizes.
