PCL Construction joined SickKids Foundation for their fundraising event GetLoud on September 28, which featured a march of 5,000 people through Fort York, as well as celebrations with food and a music festival. It is the foundation’s annual signature event, created alongside its SickKids VS Limits campaign to raise the $1.3 billion needed for the hospital’s full campus redevelopment plan, Project Horizon.

The new campus will feature a new Patient Support Centre (PSC), the Peter Gilgan Family Patient Care Tower which features new care and operation units, and renovations to the existing atrium. SickKids is undergoing redevelopment for a renewal of clinical care and support areas of the hospital. It will increase inpatient hospital beds and treatment spaces, increase the capacity for clinical supports such as laboratories, outpatient clinic space, and new integration spaces that will connect emerging healthcare technologies and expand on their ability to provide virtual care. The new hospital facilities will not only tackle critical infrastructure issues, but also transform how children in Canada and around the world receive healthcare.

The construction company encourages employees to volunteer within the community in their Building Community program, and this year their employees and family members will lead the GetLoud march to aid fundraising efforts. “PCL’s family culture encourages a generous spirit because as company owners, it’s our shared responsibility to build healthy communities”, said Kelly Wallace, vice-president and district manager of PCL, “Many of us have been touched in some way by the transformational care of SickKids… I invite you all to get loud with us and join the fight for a new SickKids.
