Construction continues at the site of Plaza's Musée Condos, a 17-storey Quadrangle Architects-designed condominium development on Adelaide Street in Toronto's King West neighbourhood. We last visited the project's construction site back in June, following the removal of construction hoarding around the project's ground level. Now, some months later, the development's public realm is looking much closer to completion.
The building's Adelaide Street West frontage is now fully glazed, with residential entrance and future retail frontages in place at grade. Recently planted trees—which will benefit from Silva Cell technology—will grow to create an inviting atmosphere on the sidewalk, while softening the impact of the hard-edged streetwall formed by the Musée and neighbouring oneeleven Condos.
The standout feature at Musée Condos will be an open-air galleria, opening up a mid-block pedestrian connection south from Adelaide to give access to an 8,000 square foot park at the southeast corner of the site.
The galleria will eventually be lined by art panels, placed between a rib-like arrangement of curved metal cladding elements, now being installed along the walls. Since our last update, the space's sculptural concrete columns have also been revealed.
To the south of the galleria, the future public park area is currently being used for construction staging, where trucks make deliveries to the site and where personnel and materials can access the exterior construction hoist.
