On the east side of Yonge Street in Midtown Toronto, Mattamy and Biddington's J. Davis House has reached a key sales milestone. With the 9-storey, 191-unit condominium now 75% sold out, the Graziani + Corazza-designed project moves a step closer to the start of construction.
Located just south of the rapidly densifying Yonge & Eglinton, J. Davis House will join the popular Davisvile neighbourhood, adding residential density to an area characterized by its fine-grained urban retail. Replacing a suburban-style retail space, a row of three-storey structures, and 1950s-built bank building, the mid-rise development will span an entire block, bringing a new presence to Yonge Street between Millwood Road and Belsize Drive.
While the building will meet Midtown Yonge streetwall with a retail-lined flat facade, fairly expansive outdoor areas will overlook the quieter, treed residential neighbourhood to the east. Many of the larger suites feature fairly expansive terraces. More modest rows of balconies also line much the building's north, west, and south frontages.
Beginning with the lounge in the lobby area, the building's amenities extend to such facilities as a fitness centre, party room, and a sauna, all appointed by the interior design division of Graziani + Corazza Architects. The project will also feature landscaping by Terraplan, with new plantings contributing to the public realm along Yonge Street.
