The success of Podium Developments and Building Capital's University Studios—which sold out in just two weeks of sales—has underlined the continuing demand for student housing in college towns throughout the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. With the project now sold out, Podium and Building Capital are teaming up once again to bring a new residential development called University Towns to Oshawa's Simcoe Street North near Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).

Designed by Emerich Kaspar Architect Inc., the project will contain 112 three-bedroom stacked townhomes and 22 three-bedroom condominiums, as well as commercial space. Prices for the units—which come in sizes ranging from 922 square feet up to 1,092 square feet—will start at $299,990. Like University Studios, University Towns is aimed at investors seeking a "hands-off" investment, offering fully-furnished suites with resident services provided by Varsity Properties.

Residents at University Towns' generously-sized units will enjoy a selection of common amenity spaces not commonly found in townhome developments, including a fitness centre, a lounge, private study rooms, a media room, storage and bike lockers, an indoor party room with full kitchen, and an outdoor sky terrace complete with an al fresco dining area.

Podium Developments and Building Capital intend to launch University Towns soon, and we will be sure to return with updates as new information emerges. In the meanwhile, additional information and images can be found in the project's datBase file, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion?
