Last month we visited the presentation centre for 609 Avenue Road, a new 19-storey Richmond Architects-designed development by State Building Group and Madison Homes planned to join a stretch of Modernist apartment buildings occupying two blocks of Avenue Road between St. Clair and Lonsdale. We have already taken a look at the interior design details of the presentation centre's Tomas Pearce-designed model suite, and today we are returning for a look at the development's scale model to better understand how this new addition will fit in with its surroundings.

To help visualize the development amongst its surroundings, the presentation centre features a context model that shows how the massing and density of 609 Avenue Road will tie in to the existing built form on this stretch of Avenue Road.

The development will be set back from Avenue Road at a similar distance as neighbouring structures, with much of the space between the entrance and the street to be occupied by a crescent-shaped vehicular entry way, surrounded by landscaping.

The tower's massing on the west side also mirrors the surrounding high-rise structures, while step backs above floors 14 and 17 on the tower's east facade help transition the massing down to meet the established low-density neighbourhood to the east.

The scale model also offers a glimpse into the development's outdoor amenity offerings above the ground floor on the tower's east side.
