In this week's Throwback Thursday, we take a look at world-renowned architect Frank Gehry's first hometown project, the redesign of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Back in spring, 2008, work was on the cusp of completion for the institution's unique Dundas Street facade, with the sidewalk closed off, much of the glazing installed, and steelwork in place for the undulating "peeled" section at the corner of Dundas and McCaul.

Jumping ahead to January 2016, the sidewalk has long been reopened and the completed facade is now an important architectural landmark on Dundas Street West. The redesigned AGO, which opened in late 2008, features reimagined interior spaces which alternately bear Frank Gehry's signature architectural flair, while others reflect a more subtle, stately tone.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
