Following November's demolition of the low-rise homes that occupied the site for Madison and Fieldgate's ZIGG Condos, 2016 has seen the launch of significant construction activity on the site with heavy equipment now on site for shoring work.

With the site now completely cleared for the 11-storey, Kirkor Architects-designed development, shoring provides temporary walls for the builder to excavate within, a process which should be complete mid-year. Excavation will be followed by the erection of a construction crane, and then work on the foundation and garage levels.

2016 promises significant activity on the site, with a number of construction milestones set to be reached this year, possibly reaching grade again before the end of the year. With the 11-storey, 166 unit development targeting a 2018 completion, however, we can expect construction to continue for some time yet, with the ongoing shoring representing the first major step in the construction process.

To get a better understanding of the finished project, our previous editorials covered the suite configurations, amenity spaces, while also taking a look at the 3D virtual tour of the completed building. As construction continues, we will return with regular updates, including new photos of the site.
