With Opearl Developments' inaugural Canadian project, Sail Condominiums, now launched, an aesthetically distinct project is set to add new density to a quickly growing part of the city. Located between Victoria Park and Pharmacy Avenue on Sheppard, the curving, 18-storey Keith Loffler McAlpine Architects-designed building is characterized by the sail-shaped form for which the project is named.

The recent launch party saw the project officially enter the sales phase, with a selection of suites from $199,900 providing an approachable entry point into the Toronto condo market. Sail's 180 suites are divided into studio, one, two, and three-bedroom configurations, with sizes ranging from 353 square feet to 1,412 square feet. With many of the one-bedroom units sized over 600 square feet, the project promises comfortable living, which can cater to a wide range of buyers.

Sail's grand opening was well-attended, with prospective buyers touring the sales centre's model suite vignettes, which we toured with Opearl's Ray Mao last month. In addition to taking us through the range of pre-construction purchase incentives and free upgrades available, Mr. Mao also gave us a brief history of Opearl, outlining the principles of a company committed to providing the highest quality at a reasonable price. For Opearl, the Sheppard Avenue sales centre (below) represents the comapny's first foray into Toronto, though the company boasts over 40-years of experience working on high-rise projects in China.

During the grand opening, we managed to get a close look at Sail's scale model, which gave us a more comprehensive overview of the project's scope and configuration. Featuring a prominent green roof and a tranquil, communal courtyard (seen below), Sail's generous footprint—particularly by Downtown standards—allows for a number of exceptionally spacious terraces as well as the communal, outdoor space.

Some of the project's exterior features are highlighted in our video of the scale model, taken during Sail's grand opening:

Ahead of Sail's official launch, UrbanToronto provided preliminary coverage of the project. Our first article introduced the project, giving a rundown of the building's interior amenities—appointed by Gordana Car Designand the surrounding area's quickly changing character, while our subsequent piece provided an insight into Opearl while touring the sales centre's model suite

We will keep you updated as the project continues to develop. In the meantime, additional information and renderings can be found in our dataBase file for the project, linked below.
