With Ivory on Adelaide's first residents already calling the Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed development home, the project's exterior features are now continuing to shape the 22-storey condominium tower into a cohesive and lively part of the community. The near-completion of the project's exterior space at street-level is seeing Ivory's communal areas open up to the street, creating a more harmonious relationship between the condominium and the public realm.

Since we last checked in on the Plaza development, the building's entry forecourt has taken shape, with paving and planters now installed. In addition, a framed walkway now extends out from the main entrance through a canopy that meets Adelaide Street East. The pattern of the new canopy also continues to rise up along the balconies directly above it (below), negotiatingand perhaps shrinkingthe boundary between the interior and exterior.

The completion of the forecourt will allow Ivory's residents to pass through the building's main entrance, which now meets the outdoors with the welcoming paved forecourt. The spacious courtyard adjoining it, meanwhile, will provide a new communal space that could inject life into the public realm, enlivening both the building and the area.

Surrounding the building, greenery and flowers can now be seen framing the building's exterior, bringing Ivory's planting boxes to life. The new flora has already improved the exterior aesthetic, bringing in bursts of colour that stand out against the condominium's muted, discrete tones.

The 358-unit building's courtyard will be a Privately Owned Public Space (PoPs), creating a new communal space in the growing neighborhood. The courtyard features artist Peter Bowyer's 'Flower,' a public art piece taking the form of a large metal stem topped with buds (above, left). The art gazes over its real-world, blooming counterparts with a steely artifice.
