One notable house in Toronto's Corktown neighbourhood has seen its fair share of attention in architecture communities since being constructed in 2005-2006. Designed by Stanford Downey Architects, the 2,300 square foot, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, five-storey "tower house" at 8 Trefann Street sits on a narrow footprint just steps north of Queen Street, one block east of Parliament Street. Back on January 23, 2006, construction of the house was well under way, with the steel skeleton having recently topped off.

Fast forward to July 23, 2015, and the home has long since been completed. Clad in a charcoal brick with large expanses of glass and wood accents, the design of the structure brings a modern twist to the largely historic surrounding built form. Architecture enthusiasts (or just about anyone) can see the interior of the home, which is currently being offered for rental on the popular sharing service airbnb.

We turn to another angle to compare between the house as it appeared under construction, and now.
