Ryerson University's campus has quickly grown in size and architectural variety. The new Student Learning Centre has been praised for its unique spaces, eye-catching design and flexible spaces and has proven popular with the thousands of students attending the downtown school. Nearly a decade ago however, the campus was not nearly as vibrant. In this week's Throwback Thursday, we take a look at the southwest corner of Victoria and Gould, which was dominated by the school's parking garage and bookstore. On August 12, 2006, a new steel structure for what would be the retail complex 10 Dundas East had begun to rise above the parking garage.
Fast forward to May 21, 2015, and 10 Dundas East is completed. Containing retail spaces and restaurants, the complex also houses Ryerson University's Digital Media Zone. The Cineplex Theatre, formerly an AMC, doubles as a lecture hall. Talk about dominating.
We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
