The futuristic architecture of Eberhard Zeidler's Ontario Place is just as captivating today as it was at the time of the park's opening in 1971. Five aluminum and steel "pods", suspended from above by steel cables and secured to the lakebed by large central pylons, remain among the most recognizable elements in Ontario Place. In today's Photo of the Day, which was submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by Randy Hoffmann, a thin layer of lake ice can be seen on the water below the Atlantis Pavilion. The triodetic-domed structure of the Cinesphere can be seen in the background.
