Construction of The Library Hotel Collection's 406-suite Hotel X at Exhibition Place has made significant progress since we last covered the project back in September 2014. Designed by NORR Architects with New York-based Stephen B Jacobs Group, and being built by Brookfield Multiplex, the new hotel now stands just a few storeys short of the final 29-storey height.

Precast concrete finishes are now being applied to the north side of the development, which will house a 30 foot tall lobby. Above the lobby, a large steel-frame can now be seen being assembled, which will eventually contain the hotel's 71,000 square foot sports facility.

The facility will feature a 6,000 square foot weights/cardio/physical therapy centre, a 7,000 square foot yoga/dance/Pilates centre, 10 squash courts including 2 American doubles courts, 4 indoor tennis courts, and a 9,100 square foot spa with terrace and private gym area for guests.

The hotel will also offer two ballrooms with drop down ceiling partitions, 11 meeting rooms, 2 screening rooms, and a 294-seat two level 3D-capable 'Cinematech'. Guests will find convenient retail shops, and multiple restaurants including a rooftop bar and restaurant. In addition, the building will be directly connected to the Allstream Centre to the east via a new skybridge.
