Like many areas of the city, Yonge and Eglinton is experiencing a high-rise growth spurt fueled by the soaring housing market. Further fueling this growth here is the promise of better transit in the form of the new Crosstown LRT line, and several proposed and under construction developments will be taking advantage of the improved connectivity. Of these developments, a handful are already well under construction, including The Madison, a new mixed-use development by Madison Homes, rising on Eglinton Avenue a few blocks east of Yonge Street.

Designed by Kirkor Architects, The Madison features 33 and 36-storey towers inclusive of an eight-storey podium containing residential and retail uses, featuring a 40,000 square-foot Loblaws supermarket on the second floor, the large, double-height space of which is clearly visible in the image above. In the past several weeks, the last floor of the mixed-use podium was formed, and forming work has since moved on to the tower floors above.

Since our last update on the project, work has also made significant progress on the cladding of the podium levels, which are being finished in a dark matte black precast concrete.

Installation of window glazing has also commenced at The Madison, as seen in the image below just above the ground floor.

Once complete, residents of The Madison's 644 suites will enjoy 16,254 square-feet of indoor amenity space plus an adjoining 6,204 square-feet of outdoor amenity space.
