It has been roughly one month since we last checked in on The Berwick and CityTowns, a mid-rise condominium and townhome development by Andrin Homes and The Brown Group of Companies. When we last visited the construction site, located just southeast of the bustling Yonge and Eglinton intersection, concrete and steel had risen to the 16th floor. One month later, crews are now working on the 17th and final residential level, as well as the mechanical penthouse above.

Compared to recent visits where repetitive tower floorplates were under construction, the progress of construction has slowed down considerably due to the complication of changing layouts of the building’s upper floors.

Concrete work on the upper floors’ large stepped-back terraces is now largely complete, and the imminent completion of the mechanical penthouse level will mark the official topping off of The Berwick.

Back on street level, the metal frames we showed you last month are now seeing the installation of weather protection material, which will eventually be sealed behind the coming brick exterior.

Out of the 205 condominium units in the Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed development, 20 townhomes marketed separately as ‘CityTowns’ are rising on the northern portion of the construction site. Crews are currently preparing to pour the concrete roof above the southern end three-storey townhome section, while work continues on the third floor’s walls and floor slab to the north.

Behind the townhomes, the ramp to the underground garage is mostly completed. This ramp, visible below, will lead to a new laneway being constructed along the eastern edge of the development, feeding out on the street which the project was named after, Berwick Avenue.

The space in between the townhome and tower portions, currently home to the development's tower crane, will eventually be transformed into a landscaped courtyard designed by Terraplan Landscape Architects.
