Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners at last night’s 39th annual Heritage Toronto Awards!

Gail Dexter Lord delivered the William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture. Focusing on “Building Heritage with Innovation,” Ms Lord looked at Jane Jacobs’ idea of “New ideas need old buildings” and how cities across the world have used heritage buildings to their advantage (including Toronto!).

Following her lively lecture, host Mary Ito announced the winners. The Award of Excellence is the highest award, followed by the Award of Merit, then Honourable Mention.
