Earlier today saw the ceremonial groundbreaking of Lindvest Properties' B.Streets Condo. Located at Bathurst and Bloor, construction began earlier this summer with the demolition of Loretto Abbey Catholic School, directly across from the colourful and iconic Honest Ed’s. UrbanToronto was invited to attend the event and learn more about the unique development underway.

The location of B.Streets clearly sets it apart from the competition. Situated within the highly desirable Annex neighbourhood, directly on a streetcar line and steps from Bathurst subway, to the UofT, to Kensington Market and Harbord Street, B.Streets occupies a unique site within an area that has traditionally seen little in the way of new-build condominium development. The building contains 195 units ranging from studios up to family-sized three bedroom suites. Six ‘Lane Homes' will be released to market shortly, located on the building’s eastern façade.

Excavation is already half done; a crane will rise before the end of October. Lindvest hopes to have the project complete and ready for occupancy by April 2014.

B.Streets has received an astounding number of awards; seven awards from BILD including Project of the Year for best High-Rise. The OHBA recognized B.Streets as Project of the Year 2012 as well, with an additional four awards. In total B.Streets amassed a staggering 12 awards from these two associations!

The design of B.Streets comes from Hariri Pontarini Architects. The sleek black-and-white façade composed of staggered volumes and recessed balconies stands out amongst its colourful neighbours. Cecconi Simone designed the award-winning presentation centre as well as the various amenity spaces of the building.

B.Streets will undoubtedly add much to Bathurst Street, and sets an example for future mid-rise developments along similar roads. For complete project information check out the dataBase listing below, or join the discussion on the associated project thread.
