While the opening of the new Four Seasons Hotel and Residences will no doubt be the talk of the town in Yorkville this fall, we can’t ignore the statement being made just up the street by Diamante’s The Florian. The building has been receiving plenty of attention ever since cladding began to arrive, adding a much darker, sleeker and more sensual presence to North Yorkville. Forum member Jasonzed stopped by the site to snap a few photos as construction on the exterior wraps up, providing a glimpse of some of the finer details.

The building sits at the intersection of Bay Street and Davenport, and follows the curve of Davenport on the north side. Jasonzed snapped a picture of what appears to be a section of a balcony that employs a metal grill, applied on the podium already and beginning to work its way up the tower.

The Hariri Pontarini / Young + Wright IBI Group design incorporates high-end materials, with marble used extensively across the podium’s exterior. With the hoarding removed you can now get a glimpse inside the building through the eastern entrance off Mcmurrich Street.

While activity may be wrapping up on this site don’t expect Davenport to quiet down anytime soon; construction is underway next door on the Yorkville Condominiums, with work on 133 Hazelton progressing to the west on Davenport. You can find additional information and renderings for all of these projects on the associated database listings below, as well as the project threads.
