The public art component at James Cooper Mansion, the 32-storey condominium project by Tridel on Sherbourne Street south of Bloor, has now been installed. The work by Toronto-based sculptor and photographer Eldon Garnet is called Inversion. A plaque on site describes the work:

The multi-sited sculptural work is a commentary and a reflection on our urban interaction with nature. Not long ago, the wilderness was considered somewhat threatening and something we should fortify ourselves against. Today, our relationship with nature has turned into a nostalgic yearning to embrace something that no longer exists.

The eye-catching work is installed in front of the mansion itself, saved to be used as amenities for the development, with restoration directed by heritage architects Goldsmith Borgal. The tower rising up from behind is designed by Burka Architects.
