The first hints of what the new cladding on First Canadian Place will look like was finally revealed yesterday. Work on the Brookfield Properties' owned building is being led by Moed de Armas & Shannon Architects with B+H Architects and Acheson Doyle Partners Architects PC. The original stone cladding, which was not suited to Toronto's weather, had the tendency to weaken. One piece even fell off the building a few years back. The glass replacing it will not have the same issues. Here are three photos taken at various times yesterday. As you can see the colour changes depending on the position of the sun. We'll continue to follow this story as the new cladding becomes more visible.
