One of the most unfortunate additions to the city in recent years is starting to get a bit of a makeover. The building, formerly known as Torch, has had major issues since its inception. Originally built by Pen-Equity and designed by Quadrangle Architects to house Olympic Spirit, an Olympic-themed attraction, construction delays caused it to open one month after the 2004 Olympics.

And there was the look, which was quite obviously cheapened from the original plans. Pen-Equity's first mistake at Yonge and Dundas was soon to be followed by a second at (Metropolis/Toronto Life Square). A poorly attended attraction, Olympic Spirit finally closed in 2008. At this point the building was sold to Rogers Communications, which bought it to house City-TV and OMNI-TV. Before moving CITY and OMNI in Rogers had the interiors and some of the exterior redone. While it will never win any architectural awards it is starting to look somewhat OK. Thanks to forum member dt_toronto_geek for the following photo updates (click to expand) which show an electronic ticker being added. It will extend around the torch part of the building. Now if they could just polish the concrete facing the Victoria/Dundas intersection.
