I just left Vancouver today for Victoria. Over the two days I was in town, I was impressed - I thought Broadway was a great strip, there are some wonderful neighbourhoods, and the setting is spectacular. I find the ability to control growth and development has helped big time, as I ventured into the suburbs (West Van, North Van, Surrey, PoCo) and even there, there's good Transit-oriented development. It also seems like most highrises are kept in the Downtown West and Yaletown, while midrises seem to fit into local neighbourhoods.
I'll post pics after I get back, focusing on the Downtown East Side (Chinatown, Gastown, Hastings/Woodward's), the trolley buses and Skytrain, and some of the commercial strips I visited (such as Broadway).
