Haven't been keeping up with this blog. But are there two phases to this project? Because I only see one tower going up at this point. If there's another tower it's sad to see another building get demolish for this second tower. They should have preserved the facades of these old buildings and build the new funky tower design on top lol ! !

One reason I tend to favour the preservation of old buildings is for the build quality. Can't get behind tearing a quality historical building down for a run of the mill cookie cutter tall box with five times the floor space. While I'm somewhat saddened that the Banting Research buildings are departing what is coming if executed well are in my opinion worthy replacements.

And pursuing facadism in this case compromises both heritage preservation AND the new design. It's a lose-lose.

The quality of the concrete panels is really poor when seen from street level. Each one has two little marks where the chains used to secure the panels to the truck have rubbed against the vertical part. I don't know why they didn't secure them better.

Maybe they'll patch or caulk everything into place and wash any mark with some acidic cleaner. But I think this building will stunning from afar when finished. Because of it's angled concrete panels and facade and dark glazed windows !

This is the longest in between visit of 2 year for any sites I shoot, considering I was only a block or 2 away from it shooting other sites.
