On a more general level, the Trump sign atop its namesake tower reminds me of how little I enjoy seeing such signage and logos at the top of Toronto's buildings. I know it's all about the branding but they rarely work for me visually.... too often it's just needless clutter.

Depends on the Logo for me. The TD on the old BCE Place is tolerable, BMO on FCP is better. The new Delta in southcore isn't bad either. The ones TD added at TD Centre are gaudy and out of place. But yes, the Trump one is obnoxious, irregardless of his views.

The logos also sometimes also help when giving tourists directions, but I guess I could use ground level identifiers instead.

Sometimes it's clutter, sometimes it's a nice accent. I hate what they did at 390 Bay, but the signage at Trump is so hard to see anyway that I don't really care about it one way or the other

Talon's PR firm sent us this statement.
We are PR Consultants representing Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto:

“Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto® is owned by Talon International Development Inc., a privately-held real estate development company based in Toronto, Canada, and other hotel investors and residential condominium owners. The Trump Organization is the operator of the Hotel, not the owner. Donald Trump’s opinions as a private citizen in no way reflect the position of the company’s views or those of its other investors and owners.”

However true that response is, it's a bit beside the point, as Talon originally sought to profit from its association with the Trump name. If they don't want the negatives that are now arising from that association, they really should consider renaming the hotel. This isn't any different than having a celebrity who endorses your product become involved in something unsavoury. I'm sure that if this were the "O.J. Simpson Tower" or "Bill Cosby Hotel", there wouldn't be any question of renaming it. (Although, to be clear, I am not suggesting that Trump's comments are in any way as problematic as the likely criminal actions of those two other people.)

I go away to NYC for a week and come back to see that people are still talking about the SIGN lol. It's old news now. Conrad Black has straightened everything out haha.

No one was protesting at Trump Tower on 5th Ave or at Trump World Tower across from the UN. I guess New Yorkers don't take these things as personally or as politically correct as we do, i.e. they have lives.

Meanwhile, in real news, I see that Switzerland alerted Toronto of a terrorist threat....which has been since been averted. We can go back to our talks about *ideals* and protesting the *SIGN*. Phew.

Well, it'll probably be tit for tat. You know, what with Trump building that big wall between Canada and the states - just to protect his people from the raving gay doper socialist hordes.

New York CITY!

Cool story, though, bro.
