I personally really like this building. It has some nice complexity in its external facade that I think fits really well into the area.

Looking at that Church there, though...it seems to be it's been under reno for ever.

It's a century old church built by artisans, not a kit of prefab parts.
 
Right. In spite of that, I find it's been under reno for a long time.
Actually they put up the scaffolding prematurely. They waited for about a year for the Pope to send (approve) the cheque for over a million dollars before restoring commenced.

Brickwork, masonry, roofing ... it can take a long time. In this case, work has been going on for something like a year.
 
At least all of the brick on this project is real, not walls of pre-cast concrete made to look like brick. Also, it's not a standard "typical floor" condo, there is a variation in the floor plates that gives the building it's shape, which is nice.

Not to be that guy, but those are concrete columns. (I'm a structural engineer, I can't help it...) Maybe they'll paint them or something, hide the stains?
