Toronto Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto | 207.86m | 53s | Graywood | Kohn Pedersen Fox

Construction schedule (as reported in Globe and Mail):

Bottom of excavation - May
Late May/Early June - installation of the footings
Construction should reach grade by February or March 2008
Construction to reach top of hotel portion by September 2008
Construction to reach top of residences by August 2009

Wow - that's a rather slow rise! Most buildings go up at just over a floor a week. The Ritz looks like it's going to take about two weeks per floor.

Higher quality concrete maybe?

They might be giving themselves lots of room for delays. Maybe those high-flying types don't like having their move-in date changed over and over.

Are you sure about that? .... September '04 - sure it wasn't September '05

Not that I remember or anything like that. But Spire is not even that big of a project, for it to take almost 3 years to complete seems odd.

I always think, if I wanted to live in this building, would I want them to rush it? Nothing like putting your new fridge in the kitchen and seeing it fall through the floor.

The August 2009 date is only for the construction to reach the top - it should take about a year after that to complete the rest of the exterior and interior work. The Ritz likely won't open for business until at least late 2010.
