Can't believe how ironic this is giving the site history. Big shame losing the townhomes. This feels out of place.

I agree that it should, I'm just surprised. Usually proposals get chopped, not doubled.

The developer of this project also changed. The original 4 storey concept was by Pallalax, who then sold the site to Urban Capital and Spotlight Developments. The latter joint venture then brought forward a whole new application.
Another factor is that development interest has skyrocketed along the Queensway, especially in the past few years. Which should have also contributed to raising precedents towards increased density.
