It's been a while since I've spent time in Hamilton. Downtown is still a bit rundown but was quite impressed by all the new development popping up. Starting to turn around nicely.

This now exceeds the height of Kenneth Taylor Hall. I think this is the 10th and final floor they are now beginning to put in place.

Apologies for the terrible picture (was in a moving car), but in this you can see what has been additionally done on the side facing David Brailey Athletic Center. Ive been confused why the very thin portion was completed first, and now the building is being build outwards, toward the street (whereas im used to seeing buildings go up each floor at a time altogether). If anyone knows potentially why, that'd be a cool piece of information.

That’s the structural core of the building, which hosts utilities and the elevators. Everything else is built off of that. This is easier to see on bigger towers in Toronto where the core is clearly in the middle of a building and everything ‘follows’ it upward.
It certainly doesn’t look like a typical core given it’s size though- it might only be a small part of the concrete structure we see.

Lots of crews working today, more than usual. There were crews also working on the greenhouse too.
It looks like they're working hard to get this building finished as soon as possible from the progress I have seen the last month.

Any pictures of the greenhouse? I can't even really find renders or where it will be on campus....

Used to create large uninterrupted floor space. Common in some office buildings.

Yea, looks like there's barely any interior columns. Good open space for the type of stuff that will be going in there.

Less about the lack of interior columns (you might actually need more as your distance from the core is longer, but they are using steel here so you can probably get away with longer spans that concrete) and more than the concrete core itself isn't in the middle of your floorplan. Don't see a lot of steel construction in Hamilton so this is neat. The recent innovation park addition is the last one I can remember but that was also only 3 storeys.
