Toronto Living Shangri-La Toronto | 214.57m | 66s | Westbank | James Cheng

Without having to go back dozens of pages, does anyone know off-hand what percentage of this project is sold?

This is from their website.

We are delighted to be recognized as one of Toronto’s most impressive new residential properties. Since the unveiling of the Living Shangri-La Toronto sales and presentation centre, over 220 exquisite homes have been sold.
DID YOU KNOW? The Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific’s leading luxury hotel group, currently owns and manages 55 hotels under the five-star Shangri-La and four-star Traders brands, with a rooms inventory of over 27,000. In addition to those hotels being developed in Vancouver (2009) and Toronto (2011), the collection of Shangri-La Hotel properties now under development also includes Chicago (2009), Paris (2009), Tokyo (2009), Vienna (2009), New York (2010), Las Vegas (2010), Miami (2011), and London (2012). In addition to these locations, two new luxury Shangri-La Hotels have just been announced to open in Puxi, Shanghai in 2011.

Construction Update
Excavation at Shangri-La Toronto condo tower residences is now well underway and with a depth of over 50 feet already, the soil removal should be completed in early 2009. Spring will bring the construction crane on the Toronto Shangri-La condominum tower real estate site and will be the beginning of our concrete pour with completion of Shangri-La Toronto planned for the summer of 2012. For a bird’s eye view of our construction progress, we would be happy to schedule an appointment to visit our sales centre which overlooks our site on the corner of University Avenue and Adelaide Street. A collection of the latest construction update photos of this downtown Toronto real estate development can be viewed on our website. We are also very excited to announce that Shangri-La Vancouver is now complete and our first residents will be moving in next week. The Shangri-La Vancouver hotel condo residences will be opening on January 24, 2009 and will feature Market, the hotel restaurant to be lead by the internationally renowned three-Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Sincerely, The Sales Team at Living Shangri-La Toronto

Riiiiiight....

Without having to go back dozens of pages, does anyone know off-hand what percentage of this project is sold?

from what i recall, a press release from about a year ago stated approximately 220 units have been sold for the project. i suspect more units have been sold since.

Enjoy the cranes while they are up..they are the last cranes we will see for a few years...

why so pessimistic? :D hehe..

got to think positive. if collectively everyone thought positive then this rough economic ride will be over in no time. (i think...)

It's actually cheap to build right now with all the contractors out there with little work and interest rate being so low (as long as you can't get a loan),
plus these building are going to take 2-4 years to complete. So owners are looking at it saying its cheap to build and the resession should be over in a year or so (hopefully) so why not build now.

"It's actually cheap to build right now with all the contractors out there with little work"

Not just yet. Business as usual for the most part but deflationary pressures on the horizon.

"I hate how people are buying into the media doom and gloom. Turn off your TV's people!"

I can't comprehend how people believe the media has any relevancy on this topic. If anything the media is constantly behind the curve and the general public even farther behind.

A lot of these cranes wont be coming down until 2012 maybe, so hopefully by then a few of the lucky projects will go through that haven't already started and we can keep this going until things pick up.
