I've never heard anyone actually say the name -- is it pronounced Berchy? Is there a common Toronto pronunciation anymore?

Apparently William Berczy had changed his name -- from Johann Albrecht Ulrich Moll, according to Wikipedia. At least I could say that...

I was taught on a ROM Walk of the area that the correct way to pronounce it is "Bear-Ski". The tour guide told us to think of a bear on skis in order to remember it.

Hmm I've never heard that? I've always said it like " Burrzy". No ski or bear ...
That's the pronunciation that I have always heard (and repeated).

I've always pronounced it as "berk-zee", but a senior administrator in Parks Forestry and Rec once corrected me by saying that it's pronounced "burr-zee".

I still say berk-zee out of habit.
