Then and Now: Yonge/Dundas and area

Where are all the folks that complain about all the great stuff we lost over the years now? We lost more junk like this than anything else.

With great ease, I can point out that we lost all of this:

I really like that old Maclean Hunter building...

Old CIBC tower can only now just play 'Peek-a-boo'.

Christopher Street looking west. The caption at the bottom of the old photo is wrong. Christopher street was built over at some point by Toronto General Hospital and is no longer. Note the building on the far side of University; its facade is now part of Princess Margaret Hospital.

Princess theatre. King street west. This was knocked down as part of the clearances to extend University Ave. south from Queen. My grandfather mentioned this to me whenever we drove down University… dunno why; he just did. I wasn't even born yet.

I hereby call this picture: ‘Hollywood Epic’. I wonder what they were looking at.

Looking west from Albert and Bay. This one has an element of 'motion picture' to it as well. Looks like a scene from an old silent film. 'Quiet on the set'... and… ‘action’ !! :>)

Ah, Eaton Centre Lunch. :>) They do a good job here. Moose gives a five out of five. I'm here at least once a week. Cheap too - everything here $7.00, all in, taxes too.

I was thinking the same thing. Evidently some wonderful buildings were destroyed and replaced by nothing worthwhile.
