I spent a lot of time in Bassel's. Always haunting - in a good way - to see this place again. I close my eyes and I'm back there.

An Endangered Chinatown. I know these kind of things fall into the category of personal pet projects/interests; but here you go anyways.

indeed....I went back to Victoria Chinatown last summer with my father who lived there with his grandfather in 1952....He is 84 now and for him, it was like a time machine....he hadn't been back to Victoria since the 1990's and it will probably be his last time there.....they have done a nice job preserving some of those ancient stores....it is most strange thinking of my father as a 20 year old......
