Maintenance Fees Questions?

The "boarder" thing is tricky because a few of the older residents have foreign students with them as a supplement to their pensions and just for company.

I know that, before I moved in, there was somebody running a B&B. But that was stopped as soon as it was discovered.

It's possible -- although I don't know if anybody has ever done this -- that some people might want to sublet in the future if they are on extended trips or sabbaticals.

It all depends on the declaration. The developers now want to sell units as "investments" as small-time landlords, speculators and flippers are a bigger portion of the market than owner-residents.

The maintenance fees might go up due to a deficit in the previous years budget and/or Increased contributions to the reserve fund etc. I would talk to a knowledgeable realtor to answer questions like these, you should try www.torontorealtyblog.com for info.
