Former President Donald Trump's United States of America

Well, this won't impress Trump. He doesn't like it when the military leaders speak up.

Captain fired.

Nation's top coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci forced to beef up security as death threats increase

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's top medical expert on the coronavirus pandemic and a member of President Donald Trump's coronavirus task force, is facing threats to his personal safety and now requires personal security from law enforcement at all times, including at his home, a source confirms to CNN.

A law enforcement official told CNN that the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General, the agency's law enforcement arm, asked the US Marshals Service for assistance following threats to Fauci. The Marshals then deputized HHS officers to act as personal security for the doctor.

The Washington Post first reported the threats to Fauci and the increased security.

A source also confirmed to CNN last week the presence of several members of the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department stationed at all times around Fauci's home in the district. The source added the stepped up visible police presence was a response to growing threats to Fauci's safety, though the source of the threats was not identified.

Not surprised. There are plenty of looney toons in the US that think Dr Fauci is spreading fake news, fear mongering etc. I am not surprised one of the nut bars would make death threats because of some half-baked politically charged ideology.

It's just like Scientologists, Anti-Vaxxers, 2nd amendment supporters, etc. Tell them things they do not like or that go against their one track mind and they will threaten to end you.

There are two main types of people in general when it comes to COVID-19 (and a third type): Ostriches and Chicken Littles. The Ostriches believe that COVID-19 is just a bad cold and society can run as normal very soon. The Chicken Littles believe that COVID-19 will bring about the end of the world as we know it. The third type is the type that says, "Don't panic, but be prepared." Fauci falls under the third type.

He’s a complete idiot. $10 says Obama would have done a much better job than Trump

The same Obama under whom's administration over 12,000 Americans died of Swine Flu? That Obama? Funny how leftist politicians like Obama and Biden keep getting cast as angels that can do no wrong yet Trump's every action is put under an over-scrutinized microscope.

LOL. Ok, what do you think of the job Trump has done so far in response to this crisis?

That's about "average".

Coronavirus: US accused of ‘piracy’ over mask ‘confiscation’

The US has been accused of redirecting 200,000 Germany-bound masks for its own use, in a move condemned as "modern piracy".

The local government in Berlin said the shipment of US-made masks was "confiscated" in Bangkok.

The FFP2 masks, which were ordered by Berlin's police force, did not reach their destination, it said.

Andreas Geisel, Berlin's interior minister, said the masks were presumably diverted to the US.

The US company that makes the masks, 3M, has been prohibited from exporting its medical products to other countries under a Korean-War-era law invoked by President Donald Trump.

On Friday, Mr Trump said he was using the Defence Production Act to demand that US firms provide more medical supplies to meet domestic demand.

"We need these items immediately for domestic use. We have to have them," Mr Trump said at the daily Coronavirus Task Force briefing at the White House.

'Significant humanitarian implications'

In a separate development, 3M said the Trump administration had asked it to stop exporting US-made N95 respirator masks to Canada and Latin America.

The request had "significant humanitarian implications", the company warned, and could prompt other countries to act in kind.

The company says it manufactures about 100 million N95 masks per month - about a third are made in the US, and the rest produced overseas.

President Trump said he had used the Defence Production Act to "hit 3M hard", without providing additional details. The law dates back to 1950 and allows a president to force companies to make products for national defence.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters on Friday that "it would be a mistake to create blockages or reduce trade".

Worth noting, the Americans are not alone in setting a terrible example for humanity.
