Not at this intersection, but there is a planning initiative called Keele Finch Plus which recently held community consultations (Link). It doesn't cover the entire Finch corridor like Eglinton Connects, but it's a start.

I also found a report titled Finch West LRT Real Estate Market Conditions Study, which outlines the development potential along the LRT route. Hopefully we'll see more development action as construction ramps up.

I wonder how many developers that own land along Finch are just waiting to see the LRT finished. You know, in case the province pulls funding and/or delays the project.

The sidewalk on Weston is open - sort of. I was able to walk along here but the sidewalk ends abruptly and does not reconnect with the section south of the property.

It looks like occupancy has begun on the lower levels of this building - when I was there, the crews were loading appliances into the upper-level units.

Better than what used to be here lol. In case anyone is interested in the previous use of this site (Finch West Mall), I remember going to that Canadian tire.

Edit: Here is an excerpt I found (http://wikimapia.org/13496962/Finch-West-Mall-demolished): "An undeveloped property formerly occupied by the Finch West Mall, a petrol station, and a McDonald's which was superseded by a new location across the intersection at 2362 Finch Ave W. The property has remained undeveloped following razing of the mall structure in July 2006, which originally opened in the late 1960s with Zellers as its largest tenant, and later a Canadian Tire. The McDonald's, which was razed soon after, opened in October 1973."

Update:

With major transit improvements on the horizon in the form of the Finch West LRT line, developer Medallion Corporation is in the process of bringing a significant boost in density to the Weston and Finch intersection in Toronto's Emery Village neighbourhood. The first phase of the nine building Casa-Emery Village rental development is wrapping up construction on Weston Road, consisting of two 10-storey buildings and a 30-storey tower designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects.

Ontario Investing in More Than 450 New Affordable Housing Units in Toronto

Province and Federal Government Expanding Affordable Housing Across the City
Ontario is investing in more than 450 new affordable housing units in Toronto, to help ensure that everyone in the city has a safe and affordable place to call home.
Minister of Housing Chris Ballard joined Judy Sgro, Member of Parliament for Humber River-Black Creek and Councillor Ana Bailão, Chair of the City of Toronto's Affordable Housing Committee, at Casa-Emery Village in Toronto to highlight a $58.8 million investment from the province and federal government in affordable housing in Toronto.

Casa-Emery Village received funding from the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario through the Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) agreement, delivering 348 affordable rental housing units for those in need, including seniors and recent immigrants.

An additional 110 affordable rental housing units are being created at other developments across the city as part of this investment.

Over the next three years, the province will invest more than $600 million in housing and homelessness programs across the city, including:

• • • $340 million over the next three years for homelessness prevention to help Toronto's most vulnerable residents
    • $130 million over the next three years to build and expand affordable housing options for people in Toronto
    • $130 million over the next four years to make repairs and retrofits to Toronto's aging social housing.

As part of Ontario's Fair Housing Plan, the government is also unlocking provincial land worth up to $100 million to build new affordable rental units in the city, with pilots at 27 Grosvenor Street and 26 Grenville Street in Toronto.

Ensuring everyone in Ontario has a safe and affordable place to call home is part of our plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.
