Bleaching dark veneer cabinets?

Sorry to keep asking home renovation questions here, but this truly seems to be the most active forum around lol.

Here's a pic of my new kitchen - well the same kitchen in another unit.

I rather have this colour of cabinets:

Is there a way to lighten the colour of a veneer - short of throwing away these perfectly brand new cabinets lol?

Veneer? I figure that may be hard? You may be able to paint it, not so sure about bleaching. You also can reface the it, but that's getting up there in price. I personally like a lighter cabinet but those dark ones look pretty nice and goes well with the light floor. I can see why you need the island.

Well this is frustrating, they actually have a colour close to what I wanted, just that I never got the chance to select it because I bought on assignment. Any chance I can pay the builder to change my kitchen lol? I'm sure it'll be cheaper than any refinishing quote home depot will give me
