^ No it's not HDR. This is just one of those areas of the city that takes consistently pleasing photos probably courtesy of the Royal Bank Tower and it's golden reflections. Another intersection good for this is Bay & Elm thanks to the new HSK Research building reflecting off of the glass tower across the street.

You've probably noticed these little discs embedded into the sidewalk since there are thousands across the city. This one is actually on a window ledge at Church & Carlton. They are placed there by the survey dept. to mark a precise longitudanal and latitudinal spot on the planet and can be used in future surveys of the area. Below are a couple of links for more info.

Thanks, androiduk - One of your links led to this very interesting page:

Who has ever heard of Toronto's Meridian (see attached)?

One of the older sidewalks in the city. It's not in the outer reaches of the city but in the heart of Yorkville on Bay St. just north of Yorkville Ave. This little pocket has until recently been very neglected. Now of course there is the new Four Seasons and a half dozen new condos going up.

Scotia Plaza & Commerce Court. These two original buildings managed to survive all the new development and considering modern attitudes toward heritage buildings they should be here for a very long time.

"It is Jarvis, maybe it was to keep the hookers off them?"
QUOTE donoreo.

Hookers, aka in a few instances "Ladies of The Night", tend(ed) to frequent

Jarvis & Harvey's (N/W) rather than the "other" corner. (Jarvis Street Baptist Church, N/E).
