This abandoned building at 1004-1006 College St, between Havelock and Rusholme has just been demolished. No details of what is being planned yet but signs are indicating that this site is for future development.

Some preliminary info and recommendations described in an older report for 998 College Street (IT Lofts):

http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2012/te/bgrd/backgroundfile-49578.pdf

1000-1006 College Street (adjacent to the subject site) – There has been interest in developing these sites and combining access with the subject application. If they were to be assembled, consideration would have to be given for the six rental units which existed at 1004 and 1006 College Street (they would have to be replaced). The study concludes that a seven-storey building with 50-60 units, and an underground parking garage could be accommodated on the site

Been expecting that for awhile now. Seven stories? That would be quite the change for the immediate area.

IT Lofts right at the corner of College & Rusholme is also 7 storeys, so it corresponds with that precident. Likewise, the nearby future Azores car dealership redevelopment is also going for similar height.

What's the story with that house? It was abandoned for years and left to rot...

I'll admit I'm not looking forward to this if it includes 1000 College, as then Bairrada's rather unique backyard dining will be going.

Bairrada's rather unique backyard dining

Almost wrote this yesterday before getting distracted by a whatsapp text message. That oversized backyard is SO good. As for the next door, the Little ITaly (eye roll) condos look quite mediocre to me both the street level and otherwise. I hope they don't just replicate that.

Also, here's picture from demolition. About a month ago (site fully cleared now)

No building permit has been filed as of yet, but signage for "RGC Design Group" have gone up on the fencing, who's website includes this as one of their projects...

Barraida next door only just completed a major rear extension though, so I doubt that 1000-1002 College would be a part of whatever ends up happening here.
