The photo of Elizabeth street showing the Chinese businesses; takes me back to 1958 or 59 and holding my grandfathers hand while walking up and down where New City Hall is now.
I don't regret the New City Hall but in a reflective frame of mind I will think that many Chinatowns in North America - such as New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles, didn't have their City Fathers eviscerate them.
Thank you for all these, Goldie. I particularly love seeing the downtown core photos, and of those the area around City Hall (both the old and the new) is particularly fascinating since almost everything has changed.
Excellent work! Very enjoyable to look through, especially the Danforth Avenue photos. Amazing that some of the landmarks like the Palace and the Joy gas station made it into the 1980s, only to be demolished then.
