Mississauga Celebration Square Redevelopment (CS&P Architects) COMPLETE

i'm no arborist, but i don't think transplanting is as simple as plopping it down in a new spot, especially with trees of that size, especially that this time of year... i like that this project is happening, though!

hmmm... maybe we should organize a group outing: "de-fence in defence of design." if only i had some strong power tools. we could even get coffee at the new cafe afterwards.

to clarify - i meant the fence augmented the poor quality of the design solution. i am pretty generally anti-fence! but i guess with safety requirements and whatnot things become necessary (though there must be other solutions...). just sort of boggles my mind how things appear to be so...

well, it depends... if we were to get something akin to the www.redbrickcafe.ca in guelph, i'd be in heaven. i don't really understand the line of thinking that terminates with a slight grade disparity - augmented by a fence - between the storefront and sidewalk in pedestrian-oriented retail...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

i just got back from chicago, so the notion of a loop sits well with me right about now... but yeah, servicing the city centre while offering an express that would bypass it seems like the best idea to my mind (though it is a mind with no knowledge of the intricacies of transportation planning).

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

... for anyone that was at the downtown21 event the other night, what was the response to the question re: the terminal? i, for some reason, sort of zoned out - but i thought he said something about four stations spread across the area? again, i could be completely off base - but did he say...

    Mississauga 42 Port Street East | 40.7m | 11s | FRAM Building Group | B+H

... yeah... because the asphalt and oil stains of a parking lot for a crappy old homogeneous grocery store are definitive of the idyllic public / open space...

Mississauga Celebration Square Redevelopment (CS&P Architects) COMPLETE

... it seems any attempt at change in mississauga is met by the constant criticism of ceaseless suburbanism. sure, the suburban realm is in itself a rejection of the public realm in favour of the private. but mississauga is, officially anyhow, attempting to reject this idea/identity itself...

... yeah, nice pictures - the panoramas especially. it is nice to be able to keep abreast of the progress while out of town. so is the podium just going to be a big surprise then, or what?

    Metrolinx $55 Billion Plan

i think that was someone else, as that was my first post in this thread. i'd ask more questions about the BRT, but that probably warrants its own thread.

    Metrolinx $55 Billion Plan

403/eastgate/eglinton BRT ? what is the deal with that thing, anyway?

    MCC: Confederation Parkway Bridge

snow will get piled up on non-segregated lanes anyway. while a separated design may prove a little more troublesome, i don't think that snow removal should be a barrier if separated lanes are - as some attest - the only way to get numbers up. i think its more an issue of will. if...

    MCC: Confederation Parkway Bridge

nice to see the bike lane goes all the way to eglinton now. does anyone know when the new bicycle master plan is due out?

    MCC: Confederation Parkway Bridge

cyclists are out there. we're definitely out there. though dispersed and unorganized. maybe something needs to be done to change that. i always get this sense that there is no community in mississauga. where is the ibikemississauga? where is the mississauga cyclists union? where are...
