    Toronto London On The Esplanade Condos | 102.1m | 33s | Cityzen | Burka

I actually have suggested my clients to design buildings without balconies. But the builders always want them, because balconies are packaged as "free" amenities for buyers. They claim buyers want them all the time. But I think the story is like, everyone is having them, that's why we need...

Chinatown East: Zhong Hua Men Gate

I think this is an advantage of placing the gate in this location rather than across a busy street... it's going to being a tourist attraction where people pose and have photos taken. Imagine people posing while cars are running beside them...... And I don't see the city pedestrianize that...

    Wanted: World-class nickname for Toronto

Other than the "percentage" we should also look at the actual "population" of foreign-born citizen / residents.

    Wanted: World-class nickname for Toronto

The question to ask is... WHY do people want to come visit Toronto.....??

Chinatown East: Zhong Hua Men Gate

I actually like the precast exposed. It looks like those old traditional stone gate... Here is an example: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_FKaAScHHeWQ/R_seGce5eYI/AAAAAAAAASE/zIVlB7P1vAg/DSC_0482.JPG

    Toronto London On The Esplanade Condos | 102.1m | 33s | Cityzen | Burka

Now, after looking at all the nice photos, I feel that this building should have been designed a few storeys taller! Too bad the city would never allow it because part of the building will shadow over the Berczi Park......

    Toronto The Uptown Residences | ?m | 48s | Pemberton | Burka

^ because the Balmuto land is cheap(er), and City wouldn't approve this kind of building on Yonge Street, unless it's on a major intersection.

    Wanted: World-class nickname for Toronto

I live here, and that's why I like the city. But if I were a foreigner, I don't see why I would put Toronto on the top of my traveling list. Its history is relatively less rich than a lot of North American and European cities. Its scenery is so-so when comparing to British Columbia, Quebec...

    Toronto Ryerson Student Learning Centre | 50.59m | 8s | Ryerson University | Zeidler

You will have to watch the latest HULK movie to see the Sam's neon lightwheels sparkling down Yonge Street.

    Toronto London On The Esplanade Condos | 102.1m | 33s | Cityzen | Burka

My understanding is that the neighborhood didn't even like the current height during the design process. Developers will always want to go taller so they can sell more.

    Toronto Fly Condos | ?m | 24s | Empire | Graziani + Corazza

I like the one on the right hand side, I assume that's the latest version. It seems more control without those balconies angling all over the place.

    I think it's London, Ontario!

This is the best developers can do - copy cats.... they copied new york, now chicago... what's next?

haha! Thanks Urbandreamer for clarifying... I always thought I am the only one who hate the design!

    Toronto Emerald City Phases 1 to 3 including Dream Tower | ?m | 36s | Almadev | WZMH

I always got confused this Emerald City Condos, with Bazis' Emerald Park. Do you guys think those Real Estate Agents were confused too?? They probably think this is another one of those big Bazis projects.....

Couldn't agree more. Not just the fins are an "attempt" to doing something phony, those slide-able balconies are a purely marketing decision. It's an "attempt" to sell you more finished area. I can hear the sale person saying to the potential purchasers, "close the slider in the winter, and...

    Mon Sheong Court (Scarborough)

One of the reasons why the builder / Mon Sheong Foundation chose not to continue the brick to the top is a economic one. The builder layers will have to stay around until all the concrete floor slabs are up in order to finish all the brick work. That means, Mon Sheong Foundation will have to...

    Mon Sheong Court (Scarborough)

I don't feel that Khristopher's comment is being racist, but it's just a bad taste comment. You should not make fun of names that are based on language of non-English. Today you can make fun of a building's name with Chinese original, tomorrow, you will be making fun of names of Chinese...

    Mon Sheong Court (Scarborough)

true, building design is typical scarboroughish..... and Yes, there are retail spaces facing kennedy.

    Mon Sheong Court (Scarborough)

what you said is not very nice... what's wrong with the name? first, this building is named after the charity group mon sheong foundation second, it's a building based on chinese characters that acutally mean something nice third, does a building always need a phony name that doesn't really...
