    Toronto 629 King Residences (was Thompson Residences) | 53.34m | 15s | Freed | Saucier + Perrotte

Noticed some demolition equipment in the parking lot this morning on the way by the site - a big excavator with the pincer thing. Looks like the hotel will be taken down fairly quickly?

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

With all the talk about the glass, I thought I'd take a good look at this thing. True to the discussion, this glass has to been seen in person to be appreciated. It's really, really nice and the photos (save the one about four posts back) don't really do it justice.

    Lost Road: Indian Line Road

I remember crossing the bridge by the dam - back in the day it was a single lane with a set of lights to alternate between allowing northbound and southbound traffic to cross. I also remember swimming in the reservoir in the days before Wild Water Kingdom came along. And fishing at the base...

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

That is the first shot I've seen that really gives a sense of how outrageous Burj Dubai is. Sweet mercy, that thing is tall.

Toronto The King East | ?m | 15s | Lamb Dev Corp | Core Architects

Eyes Post has indeed left the building - the company was sold to Creative Post last month. The building has been totally gutted since then, signage for the new condo went up this week.

    Post: Toronto mulls bottled-water tax

Too bad it's not feasible. There's really no way to collect the tax as the City can't get it from the bottlers, and would have to rely on retailers to collect and remit the tax. I'd love to see the city take a real progressive stance and ban the sale of all bottled water within the city...

Toronto buildings everyone loves to hate, but you think are OK

I'm partial to Space (Richmond and George) although I wish they would have built the original. Either way, it gets a lot of negative press, but to my mind is a decent addition to the neighbourhood.

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

Someone please tell me that ductwork running right up the centre of the building will be covered up.

    Toronto DNA3 | ?m | 15s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

The blue building was Westburne Electric and it is indeed coming down along with the small retail area fronting King that used to house a Pizza Hut Express. The Pizza Hut moved east into the building next to Westside Lofts at King and Bathurst.

    Starbucks

Starbucks in the Upper Beach Kingston Road and Bingham - the coming soon sign went up yesterday. Hooray for me as I live just around the corner.

    Park Maintenance

Of course, that dog crap isn't supposed to go in the trash can. Dog crap in our trash is causing serious problems for the city. http://www.toronto.ca/parks/dogs/dog-waste.htm Take the crap home and put it in your green bin like you're supposed to.

how are FM radio stations still making money

Having worked at 680News not that long ago, I can tell you that the way they make money is by having very few staff on hand. Jack FM is pretty much totally automated most of the day, and CHFI is pretty much the same thing. Most times I walked by those stations, the lights were off, save for the...

    Stinson files for bankruptcy protection

The Star reports this morning that Stinson's move to place the companies in bankruptcy has been annulled. Reasons will be forthcoming next week. Interesting little twist in this tale with Stinson doing an end around a court order and, it is claimed, taking property, including hard drives from...

    Canadian media & the CRTC

Once Corus moves out of Liberty Village, Rogers should move it's TV channels in - Omni, and friends, plus the City stations and at some point Sportsnet will have to get out of the parking lot at CTV.

    Stinson files for bankruptcy protection

It'd be five or six years before he finally gets it done. I'd be more concerned about some of the people he convinced to hand him hundreds of thousands for what in the end amounts to a big fat pile of nothing. What I can't understand is why the president of the 1 King condo board is so...

    Stinson files for bankruptcy protection

Those unsecured investors are looking at losing everything. Having read the following, the only thing I can say is what kind of fool would give any developer the full value of a unit in an unbuilt building and take only a personal promise that they'd be paid back with a unit upon completion...

    Stinson files for bankruptcy protection

Begs the question what about High Park Lofts? Still under construction with dozens of unsold units. If I'm a buyer, I'd be running away as fast as I could right now.
