I couldn't be happier with the new marquee. I had read around 6 months ago that they were planning on re-creating the vintage marquee, and this ones a spitting image of the one from the 60s to late 80s. Its perfectly suited to the building.

I'd have to disagree with that. Boston Garden died with dignity. The Forum survives, but looks like its been tarted up like an old hooker. Destruction might have been better.

Joe Fresh is advertising on Kijiji for a jobs fair for its new Maple Leaf Gardens location, if they're getting ready to hire then an opening of some sort must not be too far off.

Its absolutely disgusting what MLSE is doing here, it smacks of pettiness, greed and spite. I sent a letter to MLSE telling them exactly what I thought, I know it wont make any difference but its better than nothing.

Anyone have any recent photos of the marquee? Have they started rebuilding it yet?

I trekked downtown on thursday when I found out about the sign, hoping to maybe pick up a souvenir or two if the sign was indeed going to be binned. Workers told me almost everything was going to be saved for eventual auction.

Had a walk around the Gardens today. Scaffolding is disassembled on the right side of the front on the building, revealing the cleaned brick. What struck me was that the marquee was missing a letter, the "L" in Leaf was gone. Other than that, outwardly there seems to be little change.
